A Developmental Approach to Autism

| No comments yet | Blog

One highlight of last week was a fabulous conference at the California Endowment Center featuring Dr. Dan Siegel talking about his new book about the teenage brain.  Instead of viewing teenagers as out of control pseudo-adults with raging hormones, Dan tackles these and other common myths to let us into what is really happening in those brains, how great the potential is, and what teen minds can teach all of us.

Another highlight of the day was hearing Dr. Ben Zequira-Russell talk about how to support brain integration in individuals with autism.  Ben’s conceptualization, from DIR wisdom, is found in the complexity of understanding processing challenges in the context of relationships. The only way to do this is through a comprehensive knowledge of each person’s individual differences, within attuned and loving relationships.  Thank you Ben for enlightening us and continuing the conversation about neurodevelopmental approaches to treating autism!  For additional information on comprehensive approaches, visit www.profectum.org.
