Supercharged Early Intervention: Part Two

Supercharged early intervention describes what can happen when relationship- based principles harness the power of positive emotions between caregiver and child.  This adds dynamic forces that makes therapy more fun, and also allows for better learning, as memories of these joyful experiences take hold over time.  Here are some things you can look for or request in your child’s early intervention, in order to supercharge it:

  1. Ask to be involved in your child’s sessions, so that you can learn what the therapist is doing and why.
  2. Ask the therapist to give you suggestions for activities to do at home with your child.
  3. Remember to have fun!  If your child is experiencing joy, she will not be anxious, and more learning and growth will happen.
